37 milliards F CFA de l’ASER en question : Thierno Alassane Sall alerte, Abdoulaye Vilane exige la transparence
A sensitive issue has been stirring the National Assembly for several days. Member of Parliament Thierno Alassane Sall has claimed that 37 billion CFA francs were spent irregularly, outside the provisions of the Finance Act. These funds were intended for a rural electrification program led by the Senegalese Rural Electrification Agency (ASER).
For Abdoulaye Vilane, a member of parliament and spokesperson for the Socialist Party, this matter deserves to be handled "seriously, transparently, and without distraction." Because "37 billion is not a negligible sum: with this money, we could have built hospitals, created jobs, or launched industries."
He therefore believes it is essential to set up a parliamentary commission of inquiry, involving civil society and independent experts, so that "the Senegalese know who did what and with whose complicity."
Mr. Vilane recalled that the country is already going through a delicate situation, marked by indebtedness, suspicions of hidden debts, the rise of political funds, and controversial budgetary decisions. All these factors fuel the mistrust of technical and financial partners. Hence his call to restore trust through transparency and good governance, far from political score-settling.
On the political front, Abdoulaye Vilane also discussed the situation of the Socialist Party (PS). Faced with challenges of revival and renewal, the party has established a national revival commission, entrusted to two executives, with the mission of leading the party towards an extraordinary congress within the next six months. The first activity of this commission is planned in Kaffrine, but the Socialist representative insisted on the need to take into account the agricultural calendar, which heavily mobilizes young people and civil servants on leave.
Finally, Abdoulaye Vilane announced a symbolic moment: the celebration of the 90th birthday of former President Abdou Diouf, former Secretary General of the Socialist Party. This jubilee will be an opportunity to salute his political legacy, marked in particular by the first successful democratic change in Senegal in 2000 and his unwavering commitment to the Republic.
In a context of recurring political crises in West Africa (Guinea, Mali, Ivory Coast, Gambia, etc.), Vilane believes that "the example of Abdou Diouf must continue to inspire African politicians and leaders."
He calls on the Senegalese to pray for him, celebrate him and draw inspiration from his wisdom, his humility and his republican commitment.
Abdoulaye Vilane faced the local press.
