“Considering the territorialization of public policies as a guiding principle for the implementation of the National Transformation Agenda, Senegal 2050, the Head of State requests that the processes of territorialization of public programs and projects be accelerated, in conjunction with local authorities and decentralized state services, under the coordination of governors, prefects and sub-prefects,” reported the Secretary of State to the Prime Minister, in charge of Relations with Institutions, Government Spokesperson, Marie Rose Khady Fatou Faye, in the communiqué issued from the Council of Ministers on February 4, held at the Palace of the Republic.

In this context, she emphasized that the Head of State "expressed his commitment to opening up isolated areas and regions through the acceleration of road, highway, and rural road construction programs, as well as the deployment of water, digital, electrification, and basic community and social infrastructure projects." He also instructed the Prime Minister to ensure the acceleration of programs to eliminate temporary shelters and modernize school infrastructure, and to update the health map to include the planned construction of new health facilities and establishments in all regions.

To strengthen the development of the Territorial Development Hubs and reinforce the doctrine of a local government, it is reported that Bassirou Diomaye Faye has announced the continuation of his regular economic visits to the regions. "His next tour will take place from February 5th to 8th, 2026, in the regions of Tambacounda and Kédougou, in order to assess and evaluate the progress made in addressing economic, social, and environmental emergencies and priorities," explains Marie Rose Khady Fatou Faye.
