Senegal is celebrating the centenary of Abdoulaye Wade's birth this Friday. President Bassirou Diomaye Faye paid tribute to the "Pope of Sopi."
“President Abdoulaye Wade is one hundred years old today. The Republic of Senegal, however, is not yet seventy and is discovering that it is younger than the man whose life is intertwined with its own. He saw it born, and he helped to make it grow,” testified the head of state.
On behalf of the nation, Professor Faye wished President Abdoulaye Wade a centenary of peace, serenity, and enlightenment. "I pray to God that he grants us many more years of peace. Thank you, President Wade," he concluded in his message published on his digital platforms.
