"C'est un énorme scandale" : Les révélations du ministre Amadou Ba à l'Assemblée nationale
Amadou Ba, the Minister of Tourism, responded to the criticism leveled by MP Pape Djibril Fall regarding the situation of Radisson Hotel workers. According to Ba, the MP and journalist did not conduct sufficient research to understand the reality behind this dilemma.
"Before speaking, one sometimes needs to understand the contours of a problem. What's happening at the Radisson is a huge scandal, and the State can't do anything about it. The situation is that Senegal built the hotel and then entrusted its management to a Turkish company under a 15-year contract. But the most serious aspect is that the hotel's terms prohibit the State from intervening in the event of a conflict. Moreover, the contract stipulates that in case of litigation, the Paris court will have jurisdiction. To give you an idea of the extent of the flaw, a change of regime was even included to protect the contract," explained Amadou Ba.
According to the minister, all prerogatives were entrusted to the hotel owner in the contract. "The clause also states that the hotel owner determines the working conditions (of the employees). When you read the contract and its clauses, you can only blame those who drafted it, not the government. It's a scandal," concluded Amadou Ba.
