Crise politique au sommet: Bacar Dia plaide pour “la Rectification”
In a press release published this Saturday, Dr. Bacar Dia, former Minister of Communication and leader of the “La Rectification” movement, reacted to the break between the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, and his Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko.
According to the former Minister of Communication under Wade, this separation marks “the end of a political dynamic” which had fueled great hopes among the Senegalese population through the slogan: “Diomaye mooy Sonko, Sonko mooy Diomaye”.
In his statement, Dr. Bacar Dia emphasizes that the two leaders share responsibility for the current management of the country. He paints a worrying picture of the national situation, mentioning in particular the persistent economic difficulties, youth unemployment, the living conditions of students, the shortcomings of the healthcare system, the difficulties faced by farmers and fishermen, as well as the tensions affecting the press sector.
The leader of “La Rectification” also believes that political tensions at the top of the state further weaken citizens' trust and Senegal's image of stability in a sub-regional context already marked by numerous uncertainties.
Faced with this situation, he calls for a “collective awakening” and invites the vital forces of the Nation — young people, women, workers, students, entrepreneurs, cultural actors and diaspora — to join “the Rectification and the Change”.
“Another Senegal is possible: more just, more united, more prosperous and more ambitious,” he affirms, advocating for a rallying around peace, social justice, national sovereignty and economic development.
