Dialogue national : L’APR «n’enverra aucun mandataire»
The Alliance for the Republic (APR) will not participate in the National Dialogue announced by the President of the Republic for May 21-31, 2026. In a statement published on May 19, the party considers itself not concerned and "will not send any representative to these consultations."
Criticizing the format proposed by the head of state, Macky Sall's party believes that the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, "deliberately ignores major players (parties and coalitions) among the most significant in the national public sphere."
Thus, the APR believes that this initiative is "a targeted consultation operation" without specifying "the terms of reference of these meetings" and questions "the topics on the agenda", "the timing", "the targeting" and "the purposes" of the consultations.
Furthermore, the APR believes that these consultations fall "far short of the provisions of the 2016 decree" establishing and organizing the Steering Committee for the National Dialogue. This, it argues, "breaks with a tradition of republican, transparent, and inclusive dialogue."
