Drame à l’Ucad : L'ancien ministre Alioune Sarr interpelle l’État, exige la vérité et appelle à l’apaisement
The Alliance for Senegal Party / Andando Ngir Senegaal, through its President, Alioune Sarr, expresses its deep sadness and sincere compassion to the family of student Abdoulaye Ba, to his comrades, to the university community, as well as to the Association of Medical Students of Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar.
The former Minister of Commerce believes that "the disappearance of a student in a context of social demands and intervention by law enforcement constitutes a national tragedy. It challenges our collective conscience and calls for restraint, truth and responsibility from all parties."
True to his vision for Senegal, President Alioune Sarr reaffirmed that "human life is sacred and the university must remain a sanctuary of knowledge, dialogue, and citizenship, never a theater of violence." He indicated that legitimate demands related to the payment of scholarships must be addressed diligently, attentively, and with a sense of duty to the state, respecting both students' rights and public order.
The Alliance Party for Senegal calls for: "the rapid and transparent establishment of the facts, so that the full truth is revealed about the circumstances of the death; the immediate calming of the university climate, through the resumption of responsible dialogue between authorities, university administration and student representatives."
He also called for "a structural and sustainable response to the issues of scholarships, living conditions and studies, which affect the dignity and future of our youth." Senegal, he said, needs governance that prevents crises, protects its children and transforms social tensions into lasting solutions.
In this painful circumstance, Alioune Sarr and his comrades offered their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and renewed their call for "unity, peace and dialogue to preserve what is essential: life, the future and national cohesion."
