Élection du maire de Dakar : «trahison », «absurde», «forfaiture», les mises en garde de Alioune Ndoye
The mayor of Dakar-Plateau, Alioune Ndoye, has called on city councilors to support interim mayor Ngoné Mbengue's candidacy to lead the city of Dakar. Deciding not to run himself, he believes that "a divided candidacy would be a betrayal of the people of Dakar."
In a column, the former minister denounced the haste of the electoral process, accusing the government, which only has 12% of the seats on the Municipal Council, of wanting to "use the administration" to force the passage.
In a statement to Les Échos, he urged the opposition to rally behind Ngoné Mbengue in order to respect the legitimacy of the team elected in 2022 and allow this term to run its course. For him, entrusting the end of the mandate to a municipal mayor would be "absurd" and constitute "a democratic forfeiture."
