Élections municipales et départementales : Le FDR dénonce «la forfaiture du gouvernement »
In a press release published on Tuesday, February 3, the Front for the Republic (FDR) denounced the "government's breach of trust" in still failing to publish the decree setting the date for the municipal and departmental elections. "This is a flagrant violation of the electoral code, which stipulates that the regular revision of the electoral lists must take place between February 1 and July 31 of each year," the document states.
The FDR accuses the government of wanting to sabotage these elections, which according to concordant information has entrusted the production of identity cards, voter cards and passports to the Caisse de Dépôts et de Consignation (CDC) or one of its subsidiaries, which could allow PASTEF to take control of the electoral register and the civil registry.
Therefore, he demands the immediate publication of the decree setting the date for the departmental and municipal elections, as well as the decree authorizing the exceptional revision of the electoral lists. He also requests immediate access for political parties to the electoral register, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the electoral code.
Members of the aforementioned front also demand "the availability and security of voter cards and identity cards, independent management of the electoral register, all of which are guarantees of the reliability of the upcoming elections."
Better still, they are calling on "the government and asking it to explain itself on this matter which could seriously threaten the sincerity and credibility of the upcoming elections."
