Ismaïla Diallo (Pastef) : « La reddition des comptes est une volonté du régime mais pas dans le rapport de force »
This Friday, February 27, during the examination of the conclusions of the draft resolution to impeach Moussa Bocar Thiam before the High Court of Justice, the National Assembly, Ismaela Diallo, wanted to clarify the regime's position on accountability.
According to the MP, the desire to shed light on past management is genuine, but it cannot be pursued through confrontation. "Accountability is the regime's objective. But not through a power struggle," he stated. Ismaïla Diallo reiterated that the government has chosen to act in strict accordance with the law.
“We chose to respect the law, which explains the High Court of Justice,” he emphasized, referring to the court with jurisdiction to try the former ministers. He stressed a crucial point: “An indictment is not a judgment.”
For him, this is a normal procedural step in a state governed by the rule of law. Nevertheless, he believes that Moussa Bocar Thiam must answer for the charges against him. "Those of us who are in power today will also have to answer for our actions tomorrow," he added, while also advocating for the principle of setting an example.
Beyond legal considerations, Ismaïla Diallo emphasizes an economic and social imperative. "The state needs to recover its assets and address social unrest," he stated, linking accountability to the need to restore budgetary flexibility. Referring specifically to the situation of teachers and social tensions, he affirmed that the government intends to invest in human capital.
“We want to strengthen national education and healthcare,” he explained. The parliamentarian believes that the efforts undertaken demonstrate a clear political will.
For Ismaïla Diallo, the current situation demands a collective effort. "The will is there, and the actions taken show that the State is making efforts. But everyone must make sacrifices," he concluded. He called for shared responsibility in a context of reforms and recovery.
