Le Collectif Niakhtou National maintient Son Rassemblement Pacifique à Sacré-Cœur 3
The NIAKHTOU NATIONAL Collective has confirmed, via a press release, that its peaceful gathering, scheduled for Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, will proceed as planned at the Sacré-Cœur 3 grounds, along the VDN highway. This decision follows a letter from the Prefect of Dakar dated November 6, suggesting that the event be relocated.
In its statement, the Collective reiterates that this demonstration is fully within the legal framework, in accordance with constitutional rights guaranteeing freedom of assembly and expression. It also emphasizes that the chosen location is a public space that has already hosted several gatherings without incident.
"The desire to relocate this demonstration is perceived as an unjustified provocation and an obstacle to the fundamental right of democratic expression of the Senegalese people," the statement denounces.
Faced with this attempt to restrict the demonstration, the Collective affirms its determination to maintain the mobilization at the originally planned location, date, and time. It calls for peaceful citizen resistance and the mobilization of all democratic, political, union, and civic forces, in strict compliance with the law.
The Collective reaffirms its commitment to peace, national stability, but also to freedom of expression on crucial issues such as the high cost of living, social justice and governance.
Finally, he urges the administrative authorities to demonstrate republican neutrality and to support this gathering instead of seeking to obstruct it.
"The sovereign people will not back down. The NATIONAL NIAKHTOU will indeed take place at the Sacré-Cœur 3 grounds," the statement concludes.

Cette décision avait suivi la révélation d’une dette cachée de près 7 milliards de dollars, imputée par les nouvelles autorités, au pouvoir depuis avril 2024, au régime précédent de Macky Sall (2012-2024). Eventée d’abord par le premier ministre, Ousmane Sonko, puis confirmée, en octobre 2024, par l’Inspection générale des finances, l’affaire a pris de l’ampleur quand la Cour des comptes a estimé, en février, que les chiffres de la comptabilité publique étaient faux.
Le déficit budgétaire avait été largement sous-évalué. Fin 2023, il avait été chiffré à 4,9 % du produit intérieur brut (PIB) par l’ancien gouvernement. D’après le calcul de la Cour des comptes, il s’agissait pourtant de 12,3 % du PIB – le déficit s’est aggravé à 14 % du PIB en 2024. Depuis la mise au jour de ces « déclarations erronées », selon la terminologie du FMI, la dette du Sénégal ne cesse d’être réévaluée à la hausse : de 99,65 % fin 2023, elle est désormais estimée à 132 %,
