Le professeur Astou Fall au congrès Pastef: « Nous avons besoin de relais territoriaux capables de défendre et d'expliquer l'action publique »
During the ongoing congress of the first congress of PASTEF-Les Patriotes, Professor Astou Fall argued for a strengthening of the party's territorial presence, which she considers an essential condition to support the transformation ambitions of the political formation.
Speaking at a panel dedicated to the party's future, she praised the emergence of a new model of activism since the creation of PASTEF in 2014. According to her, the movement has succeeded in uniting engaged citizens around a political project and a vision for Senegal, thus breaking with certain traditional practices of political life. "With the advent of PASTEF, we have seen the emergence of a new type of activism, committed men and women who support a project and participate in its financing themselves," she emphasized.
For Astou Fall, consolidating this momentum now requires a stronger party presence in local communities. She called for the establishment of local representatives capable of ensuring a permanent link between the people and decision-makers. "We need local representatives who can advocate for and explain government action, but also monitor the implementation of public policies and relay the concerns of the people," she stated. In her view, these local structures must play a crucial role in disseminating information about the reforms undertaken and in supporting citizens as they navigate the changes brought about by public policies.
The political leader also stressed the need for activists to become more involved in local development. She believes that the party's territorial structures must participate in citizen initiatives and actively contribute to resolving the difficulties faced by communities.
According to her, activists should not be limited to a political support role, but should become true agents of social transformation within their communities. Astou Fall also reaffirmed her rejection of political patronage, advocating for the emergence of conscious, responsible, and committed activists who monitor public policies. "We want activists who explain, who follow, who evaluate, and who positively impact the lives of their fellow citizens," she emphasized.
