Locales 2027 : Pastef n’écarte pas d’aller sous sa propre bannière (Ayib Daffé)
There's a lull after the storm within the presidential camp. Following a sharp tension between the two leaders of the Pastef party (President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and his Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko) regarding the restructuring of the Diomaye-President coalition, things seem to be returning to normal, though the deep divisions remain. These divisions persist, according to Ayib Daffé, president of the Pastef parliamentary group.
Invited to the "Objection" program this Sunday on Sud Fm, the MP who led the Pastef Political Bureau delegation to the audience with President Diomaye, reaffirmed that "the patriots" disapprove of the choice of Aminata Touré to lead the restructuring of the Diomaye-President coalition.
According to him, the former Prime Minister has ulterior motives behind her actions, which run counter to Pastef's principles and the spirit of the "project." "We've seen that she's poaching mayors from Benno Bokk Yaakaar. Now, what are her intentions? Is this with the 2027 local elections in mind? In any case, all these mayors from the old regime that she's poaching in a recycling or political defection operation were there during the last legislative elections in competing coalitions, but that didn't stop us from defeating them," he emphasizes.
According to him, Pastef is not ruling out running independently in the upcoming local elections, as it did in the legislative elections of November 17, 2024. "We, as Pastef and our allies, will continue to work, whatever the circumstances, to win the local elections. The objective, as President Ousmane Sonko stated during the tera-meeting, is to control 90% of the local authorities. We will work towards that," confided Daffé, who declined to reveal the content of the discussions with President Diomaye.
