Ministère des Infrastructures : Déthié Fall exige rigueur et transparence à ses futurs collaborateurs
At the handover ceremony this Monday, Déthié Fall, the new Minister of Infrastructure, Land Transport and Access to Landlocked Countries, laid the foundations for his leadership. Speaking to Maimouna Dièye, Minister of Family, Social Action and Solidarity, he delivered a strong message to his future colleagues.
Rigor and commitment required
Déthié Fall was clear: The teams and companies called upon to collaborate with his ministry should expect a sustained pace.
Three major programs now under its supervision
The Minister takes control of strategic programs initially housed in the Ministry of Family and Solidarity, such as the Emergency Program for the Modernization of Border Axes and Territories (PUMA), the Emergency Program for Community Development (PUDC) and the Program for the Modernization of Cities (PROMOVILLES).
Budget transparency as a watchword
Déthié Fall also insisted on rigorous management of public funds. "This is the Senegalese taxpayer's money, collected under extremely difficult conditions. We have no right to gamble with a single franc," he warned, thus setting the tone for his mandate: rigor, transparency, and efficiency.
For her part, Maimouna Dièye returned to the institutional reorganization that led to the transfer of her department, emphasizing that it is a desire of the authorities to optimize government efficiency, particularly in the infrastructure sector.
"It is in a spirit of centralization, with the objective of efficiency, that the authorities wanted to introduce this major innovation," she explained.
Skills transfer: Maimouna Dièye reassures Dethié Fall on the rigor of his former team
Addressing the minister, who called on his future colleagues to be fully available to "work day and night," Ms. Dieye reassured the leader of the Republican Party for Progress (PRP), who now heads the Department of Infrastructure. "They are available 24 hours a day. As for commitment and rigor, rest assured, I know you won't sleep. You talk about 24 hours, but I hope you'll have problems, because they work Monday to Sunday, 24 hours a day. At 2 or 3 a.m., they're at work. I'm convinced they'll support you."
