Oumar Sarr : « On dirait que Diomaye et Sonko se moquent de tout le monde »
Former minister Oumar Sarr, coordinator of the Front for the Defense of Democracy and the Republic (FDR), questions the nature of the relationship at the top of the executive branch between President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and his Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, referring to a governance that he considers opaque and theatrical.
Invited to the "Grand Jury" program on RFM this Sunday, May 17, 2026, the mayor of Dagana believes that the alleged disagreements between the two leaders are fueling public speculation, without being clearly acknowledged. "There are people who think there are disagreements on major policy directions," he stated. The former coordinator of the PDS emphasized that no official confirmation of tensions has been given by those directly involved.
Oumar Sarr questions the sincerity of the debates within the executive branch and the clarity of the government's position. "Sometimes, I get the impression that it resembles disagreements, but sometimes it seems as if Diomaye Faye and Ousmane Sonko are making a mockery of everyone," he analyzes.
According to Oumar Sarr, the current political scene is more of a staged event than a genuine clash of political stances between the President of the Republic and his Prime Minister. "Some believe it's a real opposition, others think it's a political farce," he states.
