Ousmane Diop (Pastef) : «À ceux qui tremblent à l’idée que cette loi passe, c’est pour vous que nous l’adoptons»
The plenary session on the creation of the National Office for the Fight against Fraud and Corruption (OFNAC) continues at the National Assembly. Ousmane Diop, a member of the Pastef parliamentary group, spoke to argue that this major initiative aims to profoundly transform governance and the fight against corruption. This is achieved through a single mandate, management autonomy, and investigative powers free from state secrets.
He thus denounced a system where elites could escape justice. "We are breaking the incestuous bond between the corrupter and the corrupted. The law aims to prevent the people from being robbed under the cover of endless procedures. It will put an end to the impunity of the powerful. It will be the end of the silence bought by the impunity that the latter guaranteed," he said.
According to him, the law proclaims that "public money belongs to the public and that anyone who betrays will be held accountable before justice." He indicates that the new OFNAC targets two categories: "To those who tremble at the thought of this law passing, I say that it is for you that we are adopting it. To those who believe in honor, dignity and service, I say to you that the law is a support aimed at strengthening ethical values within the public service."
The MP recalls that the main objective is to "give people the certainty that their State is acting for them and not against them."
Finally, Ousmane Diop addressed the Minister of Justice, Ousmane Diagne: "The Senegalese people, who love justice, demand that rigor be applied so that all the injustices suffered are repaired."

Bravo bien résumé il faut que forcé reste à la loi. Le ministre de la justice est interpellé. Nous voulons une justice rendue au Nom du peuple qui vous paye avec nos maigres ressources.
