Ousmane Sonko exige une meilleure lisibilité des prix pour dynamiser le marché
At the closing of the Interministerial Council on the revival of the Senegalese National Oilseed Marketing Company (SONACOS) this Friday, Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko called on economic stakeholders to work on better price indexation to ensure greater visibility and profitability. "We need indexation and precision in price definition, otherwise it will be extremely difficult," he said, expressing his reservations about current methods, which are often influenced by world prices.
Sonko stressed the urgency of protecting emerging industries from unfair competition, particularly through customs and tax measures, in line with the country's ambition to industrialize. He emphasized the need to reduce production costs, particularly by improving energy supply, to strengthen local competitiveness.
Reaffirming government support for SONACOS, he noted that the freeze on exports has made it possible to increase the collection of peanut seeds from 13,000 to 150,000 tonnes.
