Parti socialiste : le manifeste « Doundeul PS » fait exploser le groupe WhatsApp des femmes
Tensions are running high within the Socialist Party (PS), particularly within the Women's Movement. In its Wednesday, February 25th edition, Les Échos reports that a major disagreement has erupted within the Dakar Regional Union. The conflict stems from the publication of the "Doundeul PS" manifesto, championed by reformist party officials, which has ignited the situation.
An exclusion from the WhatsApp group that is not going down well
The president of the Regional Union, Aïda Sow Diawara, decided to remove Juliette Zinga, a former member of parliament, from the organization's WhatsApp group after the latter shared the controversial text. According to the same source, Juliette Zinga immediately contacted the National Executive Secretariat (SEN) to denounce what she considers a violation of her rights.
She remains furious and insists: "Aïda Sow, this is the last time you will allow yourself to delete my posts. I have the same rights as you. I have the right to post the manifesto; those who are interested can sign it, and the others can move on."
The former parliamentarian drives the point home by shifting the debate to internal management: "You need to know how to command respect; I don't need your permission. You are the primary source of problems among the women of the party. Besides, you must have enough to do with organizing our religious conference. I remind you that you have already received a donation of two million [CFA francs], in addition to the money remaining in the coffers."
The defense of Aïda Sow Diawara
For her part, the former mayor of Golf Sud, quoted in the newspaper, fully stands by her action: “Yes, I removed it, but it’s to protect us from the tensions within the party. I wouldn’t want women getting involved in these problems.” Attempting to restore calm and dispel suspicions about the financial management, she promised the religious event would be held soon: “I was just preoccupied with recent events, but I’ll call a meeting next week to discuss it.”
