PASTEF sonne l’heure de la « révolution souverainiste » : Sidy Alpha Ndiaye dévoile la nouvelle doctrine du parti
Gathered in Diamniadio for their congress, PASTEF activists and leaders adopted a general resolution outlining the party's ideological and strategic direction for the coming years. This key document was read by Sidy Alpha Ndiaye, who presented what the Patriots now consider the new political doctrine to guide the government's actions.
At the heart of this resolution lies a powerful idea: PASTEF's accession to power in 2024 is not simply a political transition. The party believes it is rather a "democratic, popular, and sovereign revolution" intended to fundamentally transform the structures inherited from the past.
According to the text adopted by the congress, this revolution aims to put an end to the mechanisms of dependency, rent-seeking practices, and forms of exclusion that have long hindered the country's development. Party leaders insist, however, that this is neither a project to break with institutions nor a challenge to the rule of law, but rather a refounding of the state solely in service of the interests of the Senegalese people.
In his address, Sidy Alpha Ndiaye also recalled the sacrifices made during the years of political struggle. The congress paid tribute to the martyrs, political prisoners, and all activists who suffered repression for their commitment to change. For the Patriots, these struggles form the moral and political foundation of the new phase that began with their rise to power.
The resolution also reflects a broader understanding of international upheavals. Faced with the economic, climate, and geopolitical crises shaking the world, PASTEF believes that Africa is engaged in a historical phase marked by a resurgence of aspirations for sovereignty and the search for more autonomous development models.
The party thus reaffirms its commitment to a pan-Africanism based on the sovereignty of peoples, regional cooperation and the building of an African power capable of defending its own interests in a changing world.
For the delegates, the 2024 electoral victory is only a starting point. The real challenge now lies in the sustainable transformation of Senegal's economic, social, cultural, and institutional structures. This requires, in particular, building a strategic state, an efficient administration, an uncompromising fight against corruption, and the development of national talent.
The text also warns against any form of political complacency. Members of Parliament and party officials are urged to preserve the spirit of change that brought PASTEF to power and to prevent popular aspirations from being diluted by traditional practices of governing.
Finally, the resolution places the cultural battle at its heart. PASTEF believes that sovereignty cannot be fully achieved without a rehabilitation of African knowledge, increased promotion of national languages, and a restoration of collective trust. The values of Jom, Ngor, Kersa, and Teranga are thus presented as the ethical foundations of a new societal project.
