Podor : Maître Moussa Diop porté coordinateur départemental de la Coalition Diomaye Président
The Diomaye President Coalition is continuing its reorganization at the national level. In the Podor department, a meeting held via videoconference resulted in a significant decision: Moussa Diop was unanimously appointed Departmental Coordinator with 100% support.
This designation was welcomed by the members of the coalition who wished to thank all the political leaders, presidents of movements and political parties residing in the department of Podor for their commitment and sense of responsibility.
A political career marked by ruptures
Moussa Diop, former director general of Dakar Dem Dikk under Macky Sall's regime, had at the time slammed the door on the Alliance for the Republic (APR) to join the political struggle led by Ousmane Sonko and Bassirou Diomaye Faye. This move was presented at the time as an act of breaking with the old system.
However, after the Diomaye-Sonko duo came to power, Moussa Diop was not given any governmental or institutional responsibility. He reportedly perceived this as a form of marginalization, especially given that Ousmane Sonko publicly refused to open the doors of power to political opportunists, whom he considered products of the system.
Public criticism against Ousmane Sonko
Frustration gradually turned into open criticism. Invited to the Grand Jury program on Radio Futurs Médias (RFM), Moussa Diop expressed his strong indignation at the dissolution of the Diomaye Président coalition, not sparing Ousmane Sonko.
The former CEO of Dakar Dem Dikk accused the Pastef leader of sacrificing his historical allies in favor of political figures from the APR, whom he had long opposed. He believes this choice constitutes a betrayal of the ideals of change and a repudiation of the role played by coalition members in the electoral victory.
"He preferred to ally himself with those who put him in prison," he said, denouncing what he considers an unnatural alliance.
A political realignment against a backdrop of tensions at the highest levels of the state
This media appearance comes amid persistent tensions at the top of the state between President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and his Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, which are regularly mentioned in public debate.
Faced with this situation, the head of state is said to have undertaken to reorganize and expand his political coalition while, for his part, Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko is working to close ranks around Pastef, mobilizing activists and sympathizers who believe that President Diomaye Faye is gradually moving away from the original line of the project carried by their leader.
The appointment of Maître Moussa Diop to Podor thus appears as a strong political signal, in a national context marked by realignments, internal rivalries and a battle for influence between former allies.
It remains to be seen whether this local dynamic will become part of a sustainable national strategy or whether it will only accentuate the divisions already visible within the ruling camp.
