Respect du calendrier électoral : Bamba Cissé attend le décret de Bassirou Diomaye Faye
Interior Minister Bamba Cissé reaffirmed this Friday that the organization of the elections depends strictly on the schedule set by presidential decree, while assuring that state services are already ready for the holding of the vote.
Speaking before members of parliament during the question period at the National Assembly, the minister reiterated the legal framework governing the setting of election dates. "Holding the elections is not up to me," he stated.
Bamba Cissé clarified that Article 63 of the Electoral Code grants this prerogative to the Head of State. "Article 63 of the Electoral Code stipulates that the date of the elections is set by decree, which falls under the authority of the President of the Republic," he explained.
In this context, the minister indicated that his department is awaiting the presidential decree to officially launch the electoral process. "We are organizing the elections based on this decree. We are waiting for this decree," he insisted.
He did, however, seek to reassure the public about the electoral administration's preparedness, stating that all the necessary technical and logistical arrangements have been made to guarantee a transparent election. "We are ready, and the right people are in the right places to organize free and transparent elections," Bamba Cissé affirmed.
The minister also addressed the country's security situation, noting that an improvement has been noticeable in recent months. "For some time now, the country has become safer," he stated, while calling for vigilance and cooperation from the population in the fight against organized gangs.
