SITUATION POLITIQUE AU SÉNÉGAL : La plateforme AARTU/C2D charge Sonko et son camp

AARTU/C2D, a Paris-based platform composed of opposition parties, met today to discuss the prevailing political situation in Senegal. According to this political organization, Senegal, known for its stability, dialogue, and mutual respect, is currently in danger.

According to AARTU/C2D, Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko and officials from his camp have sown hatred, manipulation, and division in the country. "At the tera-meeting, Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko publicly attacked the judiciary, thus threatening a crucial pillar of our democracy. Officials from his camp now dare to speak of a 'legitimate president' and a 'legal president,' as if the Republic could have two heads."

The platform added that if a secret agreement linked President Diomaye Faye to his Prime Minister before the election, as some have suggested, it would constitute a betrayal of universal suffrage, a disguised constitutional coup.

In response to this, AARTU/C2D believes that the people's silence would be a mistake and an act of complicity. It therefore calls upon all republican forces—political, intellectual, union, and civic—to rise up and defend institutions, justice, liberty, and national unity. "We must say no to hatred, no to manipulation, no to division. For the Republic belongs to no camp: it is a collective conscience."

These opponents believe the government has lost its bearings. "While the country suffers, families buckle under the high cost of living, and our young people emigrate for lack of a future, the government engages in indecent political displays. They promise a break with the past, but they sow confusion. They speak in the name of the people, but they govern by clan. They claim to defend justice, but they trample on institutions," they lamented.
