Tera-meeting du Pastef : Les sinistrés de Bakel crient leur indignation
The Collective of Disaster Victims of the Bakel Department expressed its deep indignation following Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko's announcement to hold a political tera-meeting on November 8, 2025.
According to information reported by Radio Futur Médias, the representative of the Bakel disaster victims' collective, Abdourahmane Ndiaye, stressed that the head of government had never set foot in the disaster areas, leaving the population with a deep feeling of abandonment.
"We, the people of Bakel, express our deep indignation following the Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko's declaration of the organization of a large meeting on November 8, 2025. This organization shows that you do not care about the situation of the disaster victims in Bakel, and yet, it was you who announced a salary of 8 billion to the disaster victims during the campaign for the legislative elections," he castigated.
According to him, this initiative reflects a lack of consideration for the populations still affected by the floods. The victims point out that Mr. Sonko himself promised, during the election campaign, 8 billion CFA francs in aid to help them.
A year later, this promise has still not been kept, they say. Bakel's residents are still living in precarious conditions, with destroyed homes, agricultural losses, and no compensation.
For the group, the government's decision to prepare a large political rally while "hundreds of families are still waiting for the slightest support" illustrates the priority given to the political scene to the detriment of human distress.
The victims are calling on the authorities to honour their commitments and act quickly to provide relief to the victims before any other political initiative.
