Thierno Alassane Sall charge le duo Diomaye-Sonko : « Les traîtres sont dans la forteresse »
Thierno Alassane Sall, a member of parliament and president of the Republic of Values party, has once again criticized the current government, pointing to alleged tensions between President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko. According to him, Senegal's real problem is neither institutional nor legal, but deeply political. "What is happening in this country is not a legal issue, but a problem between the President of the Republic and his Prime Minister," he declared, adding that these power struggles at the highest levels of government risk plunging the country into a dangerous situation.
The leader of the Republic of Values party deemed the president's stated desire to consult former prime ministers "ridiculous," given that, in his view, dialogue appears to have broken down with his own head of government. "You can't want to engage in dialogue with former prime ministers when you're not even capable of engaging in dialogue with your current prime minister," he declared.
To illustrate the risks of such a situation, Thierno Alassane Sall cited the example of Niger in 1995, warning of the political and institutional consequences that internal conflicts at the highest levels of the executive branch can generate. But it was above all his remarks about "traitors" that marked his speech. "Let's not take the Senegalese people for children. The traitors are inside the fortress," he declared, in a thinly veiled attack against certain figures in the regime.
The MP also questioned the presidential announcements regarding the periodic evaluation of the directors general of national companies. According to him, these declarations lack credibility as long as certain officials remain in their positions despite criticism. He specifically cited the director general of the Senegalese Rural Electrification Agency (ASER), asserting that his continued tenure demonstrates the contradictions within the government.
Another point of contention is the functioning of the National Assembly. Thierno Alassane Sall accuses the Prime Minister of transforming the parliamentary institution into a personal political platform. "Every time he has a problem, he comes to put on a show at the Assembly," he quipped, lamenting that the chamber is being used as a space for political maneuvering rather than as a forum for republican debate.
The parliamentarian finally alluded to a previous session devoted, according to him, to controversies on homosexuality, before mentioning the recent arrest of someone close to the government in a case linked to these issues, accusing the Prime Minister of wanting to divert attention from the real national issues.
