Tivaouane : Le Conseil départemental approuve à l’unanimité un budget avoisinant les 500 millions FCFA pour l’exercice 2026
495.8 million FCFA for the year 2026. This is the budget unanimously approved by the Tivaouane Departmental Council, marked by increased investment. The budget, precisely set at 495,802,449 FCFA, balances revenue and expenditure, reflecting a significant increase compared to the previous fiscal year.
The budget allocation shows 250,608,576 CFA francs for operating expenses and 245,193,873 CFA francs for investments. Compared to 2025, the 2026 budget represents an overall increase of 8.75%, or an absolute increase of 39,914,914 CFA francs. Following discussions, it was adopted unanimously by all council members present, reflecting broad consensus on the financial guidelines and priorities established for the department's development.
The operating budget shows a decrease of 24,318,647 CFA francs, illustrating the efforts made to streamline current expenditures. Conversely, the capital budget records a significant increase of 64,233,561 CFA francs. This increase is largely explained by the low execution of capital expenditures during the 2025 fiscal year, notably due to the late receipt of certain funds.
The budget structure reveals a near-perfect balance, with operating expenses representing 51.55% of the overall budget, compared to 49.45% for public investment. This distribution confirms a clear focus on financing structuring projects with a strong socio-economic impact.
For 2026, the Tivaouane Departmental Council has identified the construction of a banana processing plant on the Grande Côte de Mboro as a major priority. According to the council's president, this project will be implemented in partnership with economic stakeholders from the United Arab Emirates. The initiative aims to strengthen the local agricultural value chain, improve marketing conditions for banana production, and promote job creation for the local population.
The investment program also includes the construction of classrooms, administrative buildings, multi-purpose sports fields, and hygiene facilities, with the aim of improving the department's educational, sports, and social infrastructure. Work is also planned at the Mame Abdou Aziz Sy Dabakh Hospital in Tivaouane to strengthen healthcare services and improve the quality of services.
The 2026 budget also includes the acquisition of desks, benches, furniture, and school supplies for the department's high schools and middle schools, as part of efforts to improve learning conditions. Through the adoption of this budget, the Tivaouane Departmental Council reaffirms its commitment to balanced territorial development, focused on agriculture, education, health, and basic infrastructure.
