UCAD, loi sur l'homosexualité et supporters au Maroc : la charge virulente de Cheikh Oumar Diagne contre le gouvernement
The Political Bureau of the Rally for Truth / And Ci Degg (RV-ACD) issued a strongly worded statement following the recent events at Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar (UCAD). The movement denounced the authorities' handling of the situation as "irresponsible, authoritarian, and disgraceful." According to the party, led by Cheikh Oumar Diagne, the violence stems from a "deliberate, calculated, and planned policy of brutal repression against a youth already sacrificed."
The statement points to acts attributed to the defense and security forces, including the ransacking of student property, intrusions into dorm rooms, physical assaults, and the desecration of the UCAD mosque. The movement considers these acts "shameful and unworthy of a state that claims to be a republic." The RV-ACD asserts that the death of student Abdoulaye Ba is an irreparable loss that "fully and directly engages the political, administrative, and criminal responsibility of the State."
In the face of this crisis, the RV-ACD expresses its unwavering support for the students and demands their immediate and unconditional release. The movement also calls for the full payment of scholarship arrears, the resignation of the Minister of the Interior, and the resignation of the chain of command involved. It advocates for structural reforms to align the scholarship year with the academic year and calls for independent and credible investigations to punish those responsible for the violence.
The statement also addresses the issue of protecting public morals, reiterating that "the deliberate transmission of HIV, pedophilia, and child sexual abuse constitute serious crimes." To this end, the RV-ACD calls for the passage of a law criminalizing homosexuality and urges the State to exercise increased vigilance against NGOs and associations suspected of promoting the LGBT agenda.
Finally, the movement focused on the plight of Senegalese supporters imprisoned in Morocco. The Political Bureau called upon a state it deemed "passive and silent" and demanded the immediate implementation of diplomatic measures to secure their release and repatriation.
