Vers des prisons plus dignes : Guy Marius Sagna félicite le gouvernement
Pastef MP Guy Marius Sagna reacted strongly and emotionally to the Minister of Justice's announcement regarding the 2026 budget. This budget provides for the acquisition of equipment intended to put an end to body searches, which are considered inhuman and degrading, in Senegal's prisons.
"I myself have been stripped naked on several occasions upon entering prison," the MP recalls, stressing that this practice undermines the dignity of people deprived of their liberty.
In welcoming this budgetary measure, he congratulated the government while calling for continued vigilance. "We will deepen, monitor, and improve the situation of our fellow citizens in places of deprivation of liberty and for the respect of their dignity."
This statement is part of the long-standing fight led by Guy Marius Sagna and citizens' groups for a thorough reform of the Senegalese prison system.
