10 cas, 4 décès : Le ministère de la Santé fait le point sur la fièvre de la vallée du rift
The Ministry of Health has just provided an update on the development of the Rift Valley fever epidemic. It reports that to date, "ten (10) positive cases, including four (4) deaths, have been recorded."
The Ministry recalls having received, on September 20, 2025, confirmation, by the laboratory of the Pasteur Institute of Dakar, of two positive cases of Rift Valley fever, located in the region of Saint-Louis.
The preliminary investigation identified 26 other people living in close contact with the confirmed cases. Six of them showed suggestive clinical signs. Samples were taken from them.
Therefore, to protect against the disease, the Ministry of Health recommends respecting hand hygiene rules, wearing gloves and other suitable protective equipment when handling sick animals or their tissues.
He also advises cooking animal products thoroughly, using impregnated mosquito nets and wearing light-colored clothing (long-sleeved shirts and trousers).
The ministry also advises avoiding outdoor activities during times when vector species bite most.
