Épidémies : La FVR s’étend, le Mpox reste stable
In its latest bulletin, the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene warns of the continued progression of Rift Valley Fever (RVF), while Mpox (monkeypox) remains contained, but under close surveillance.
FVR: 381 confirmed cases, 29 deaths
RVF continues to spread. As of November 1st, five new cases were recorded, bringing the total to 381 confirmed cases since the start of the outbreak. The number of deaths remains stable at 29, while 312 patients have now recovered.
Regional distribution: the north as the epicenter
The RVF now affects nine regions, with an alarming concentration in the north of the country. The Saint-Louis region remains the most affected with 294 cases, particularly in the districts of Richard-Toll (137 cases), Saint-Louis (76), Podor (37) and Dagana (34).
The Louga region has recorded 18 cases, distributed between Linguère, Sakal, Dahra, Pété and Keur Momar Sarr. Matam has 24 cases, mainly in Thilogne, Ranérou, Matam and Kanel.
In the central region, Fatick has recorded 16 cases, Kaolack 14, and Dakar 9, notably in Keur Massar, Sangalkam, and Nioro. The regions of Thiès, Tambacounda, and Kédougou each have 2 cases.
Mpox: Outbreak contained in Dakar
Since the first confirmed case on August 22, 2025, Mpox has remained confined to the Dakar region. There are 7 confirmed cases and 2 probable cases. No deaths have been recorded. Eight people have recovered, and 30 contacts are being actively monitored to prevent any resurgence of transmission.
Call for vigilance
The Ministry urges the public to strictly adhere to preventive measures and to cooperate with health workers and community health workers. Collective mobilization is essential to curb the spread of these two epidemics.
