Kaolack : Deux cas de dengue détectés à Kasnack, le service d’hygiène en alerte
Dengue fever is transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which thrives primarily in humid areas and stagnant water. To counter this risk, the hygiene brigade is conducting local pest control, deworming, and awareness-raising operations. Twenty-five community outreach workers have been recruited to increase home visits and inform people about the right practices to adopt.
Captain Touré also warned against the straying of animals in the disinfected areas, stressing the danger of consuming unclean water which could lead to other public health problems.
At the same time, hygiene teams are actively preparing for the Gamou health coverage, scheduled for a few days. Since August 21, more than 70 homes have already been disinfected, with the goal of doubling last year's figure (2,000 homes). More than 50 agents and significant logistical resources are being mobilized, with the support of the municipality and local partners.
