Despite its strong population growth, Mbour continues to face a significant shortage of healthcare infrastructure. During the inauguration of the Liberté II Extension health post, Mayor Cheikh Issa Sall acknowledged that the municipality lacks sufficient health posts and centers to effectively meet the needs of its population, thus advocating for an urgent strengthening of the local healthcare system.

According to Cheikh Issa Sall, this inauguration marks an important step in the municipal program "Yessal Mbour le 1-10-100," which focuses in particular on improving healthcare infrastructure. The mayor indicated that this health post is one of six healthcare facilities that the municipality plans to inaugurate this year.

"Our goal is to bring healthcare closer to the people," stated the mayor, highlighting the shortcomings of healthcare coverage in the municipality of Mbour. He specifically mentioned the lack of health posts and centers, as well as the absence of a level 3 hospital, a demand, according to him, supported by all the city's residents.

The new health post in Liberté II Extension is expected to benefit more than 35,000 residents living in the outlying neighborhoods and surrounding areas. Local authorities believe this infrastructure will significantly improve healthcare access for the population, particularly given the ongoing challenge of rapid access to care.

The deputy prefect praised the timely completion of the project, noting that residents of the area had previously been forced to travel several kilometers to access healthcare. He stated that this new facility will further expand the department's healthcare network and improve access to basic health services.

He also paid tribute to the mobilization of local residents, particularly young people, neighborhood representatives, and imams, who worked to bring the project to fruition. "This citizen resistance deserves to be commended," he declared, calling on the community to maintain this momentum to support the effective implementation of public policies in the area.
