Octobre rose : Les mots poignants d’Absa Faye pour la prévention et la victoire contre le cancer
"I didn't come to give a speech, but to say a few words."
And yet, these words carried much more than a speech. This Sunday, during the Pink October march organized by the General Delegation for Rapid Entrepreneurship of Women and Youth (DER FJ) under the leadership of Dr. Aissatou Mbodj, First Lady Absa Faye spoke. A speech that transformed a mobilization into a national oath.
In a sober but powerful tone, Absa Faye recalled that Pink October should not be a ritual, but "a reminder that prevention saves and solidarity protects."
Her message is clear. Breast cancer is not inevitable. It can be prevented, treated, and overcome, provided we remain united, vigilant, and informed.
"Every woman saved is saved thanks to an outstretched hand, a listening ear, a preventive gesture. That is the true chain of solidarity," she declared aloud.
The First Lady insisted. "Our march is not a symbolic act. It is a commitment. A commitment to never leave a woman alone to face illness," she said, like a promise.
She adds that behind every woman, there is "a community, a part of our nation. Protecting women's health is protecting the strength of an entire country."
The First Lady paid emotional tribute to the women who are fighting with dignity, as well as to the doctors, families and associations who support them.
She congratulated the DER FJ and its general delegate, Dr. Aissatou Mbodj, for an exemplary mobilization that combines empowerment and compassion, economy and life.
“The fight against cancer is that of all women, men, institutions and each of us.
A strong society is one that stands up around its mothers, its wives, its sisters," she recalled.
And to conclude, Absa Faye launched a vibrant appeal. "Let's march together! Not just today, but every day. For prevention, for dignity, for life."
