Point de situation épidémiologique au Sénégal : Fièvre de la Vallée du Rift (FVR) et Mpox
The Ministry of Health and Social Action has issued a statement providing updates on the two ongoing epidemics, Rift Valley Fever (RVF) and Mpox. While the situation remains under control, public vigilance is still required.
Rift Valley Fever (RVF): 449 confirmed cases, 407 recoveries
As of November 13, Senegal has recorded 6 new cases of RVF, with no new deaths.
Since the start of the epidemic, the total number of deaths is:
449 confirmed cases, 31 deaths and 407 recoveries
Geographical distribution of cases:
The Saint Louis region remains the major epicenter of the epidemic with 334 cases, concentrated particularly in the following districts:
Richard-Toll (153 cases)
Saint-Louis (79 cases)
Podor (54 cases)
Dagana (36 cases)
The other affected regions are:
Matam: 30 cases
Fatick: 25 cases (including Diofior, Diakhao, Passy, Pété, Sokone, Niakhar)
Louga: 20 cases
Kaolack: 20 cases
Dakar: 10 cases (including Keur Massar, Sangalkam, Guédiawaye)
Tambacounda: 4 cases
Thiès: 2 cases
Kédougou: 2 cases
Kaffrine: 2 cases
Monkeypox (Mpox): 10 cases, no deaths
Since August 22, 2025, 10 cases of Mpox have been recorded, including: 8 confirmed cases and 2 probable cases.
Location and condition of patients
9 cases are located in the Dakar region.
One case is located in the Ziguinchor region.
Good news: All patients have recovered, and no deaths have been recorded. Currently, 22 contacts are being monitored.
A call for vigilance and collaboration
The Ministry of Health and Social Action urges the public to:
strictly adhere to preventive measures, actively collaborate with health workers and community relays, and report any suspicious symptoms to health authorities.
