Tivaouane : La couverture sanitaire du Gamou 2025 officiellement lancée
The health activities of the 123rd edition of the annual Gamou of Tivaouane were officially launched this Tuesday, August 19, 2025, by the deputy governor of Thiès in charge of administrative affairs, Ababacar Sadikh Niang. Thus, 350 health auxiliaries will be responsible, alongside agents of the State technical services, to ensure this health coverage and to ensure the cleanliness of the 83 districts of the city of Tivaouane in prelude to the Mawloud Al Naby, celebrating the birth of the Prophet Mohamed (PSL), scheduled for Friday, September 5 or Saturday, September 6. They will ensure the implementation of the measures taken.
Thus, anyone who dumps rubble or scrap metal on public roads will be fined between 200,000 and 2 million CFA francs, the relevant authorities warn. Also, a warning: a prison sentence may be imposed on anyone found guilty of any of these offenses. Takeaway meals will also be banned in Tivaouane. This is a measure taken by the authorities to prevent the consumption of poorly preserved food.
The areas set up to welcome pilgrims will be disinfected in due course. At Tivaouane Town Hall, 300 individuals will be mobilized to assist the state's technical services. The deputy governor of Thiès urged the residents of Tivaouane and pilgrims to strictly adhere to public hygiene measures. He believes that all the measures taken will ensure seamless health coverage.
