Affaire Badara Gadiaga: Thierno Bocoum dénonce une justice sous influence politique
The president of the AGIR-Les leaders movement, Thierno Bocoum, in a statement sent to Seneweb, warned of what he calls an authoritarian drift in power. He denounces “the instrumentalization of justice for political ends,” asserting that certain judicial decisions are being influenced by the executive branch.
“The prosecutor’s office is composed of magistrates, including the Prime Minister himself, organizer of the national Kokeuli, who has publicly acknowledged that he can direct the action by going through the Minister of Justice to request that people be prosecuted,” he wrote.
For the former MP, such a statement “of rare institutional gravity” seriously calls into question “the independence of the public prosecutor’s office and the impartiality of certain prosecutions”.
Thierno Bocoum questions “the relentless pursuit of keeping Badara Gadiaga in detention, when the facts initially used to justify the investigation have proven to be devoid of any conclusive substance,” he denounced.
He didn't stop there. "How can we justify the relentless efforts to imprison Pape Malick Ndour by desperately trying to pin an offense on him?", he further criticized.
Mr. Bocoum also believes that these actions reflect “an authoritarian drift that nothing can justify.” He nevertheless affirms that he remains hopeful, praising “the magistrates who stand firm, aware that deprivation of liberty must remain the exception and not the rule.”
