Drogues : Me Abdoulaye Tall sonne l’alarme sur une “invasion” qui frappe la jeunesse
During the examination of the budget of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, Mr. Abdoulaye Tall questioned the minister about the worrying situation linked to the rise of new forms of drugs in Senegal.
"You are not just managing sports. I would like to know what youth policy you intend to implement in the face of the invasive and devastating entry of drugs into the national territory," the MP said.
He specifically mentioned the appearance of new substances presented under the names “souss” and “volet”, which, according to information relayed in some areas, come largely from Gambia.
Lawyer Abdoulaye Tall also warned of a worrying trend: "Young people are no longer content with just consuming, they are selling. They find themselves caught up in a trafficking operation they don't even control. They are sometimes entrusted with the merchandise as delivery drivers and many are arrested during police operations. They are often trapped."
The MP therefore asked the minister to outline a clear, preventative and appropriate strategy to protect young people and strengthen awareness efforts.
