On Friday, December 19, in Lyon, a 35-year-old Senegalese woman was arrested and taken into custody for the murder of her 12-year-old son, who had multiple disabilities. She was initially charged with the voluntary homicide of a minor under 15, but her detention was overturned after the prosecutor's office determined that her mental health was "incompatible" with such a measure of deprivation of liberty.
"She has been involuntarily committed to a psychiatric ward. This decision suspends, for an indefinite period, the legal proceedings against her," reports L'Observateur, which broke the news.
The newspaper reports that it was the woman who alerted emergency services. Upon the arrival of law enforcement, after the boy's death was confirmed, the victim's mother confessed to the crime. "The Lyon prosecutor's office confirmed the information, specifying that the child's body had 'several wounds,' likely caused by a knife found at the scene," reports L'Observateur.
The newspaper, part of the Future Media Group, reports that testimonies gathered from neighbors are unanimous: the Senegalese woman was reserved, "not very sociable," but always devoted to her son. One neighbor, quoted by the source, asserts that calm always reigned at the accused woman's home ("you never hear a thing") until the tragic night when she was "awakened around 3 a.m. by screams that lasted for nearly twenty minutes."
The Observer points out that "the child's father had not been present at the home for some time."

" qui te dit que ses voisins l'évitaient ou évitaient l'enfant " En Europe surtout en France c'est chacun pour soi et la vie en société est faite pour les performants, il suffit d'être un peu obèse seulement pour qu'on te mette à côté , y a beaucoup de femmes blanches obèses qui souffrent de ça je crois on appelle cela la "grossophobie" ensuite quand on devient âgé, il faut songer à se trouver une place dans un centre pour vieillesse, plus personne ne prend son temps pour échanger avec vous même tes propres enfants. Pour un enfant handicapé, tu ne trouveras que les travailleurs sociaux qui sont payer pour ça qui vont prendre leur temps pour l'amuser un peu sinon tout le monde l'évite voisins ou pas .
"Peu sociable" c'était à elle d'engager la conversation, je pense que n'eut été le cas de son enfant , elle allait le faire mais vu cette situation, elle se barricade. Un jour j'était au parc, j'ai vu un enfant africain qui voulait jouer avec un autre enfant noir comme lui mais qui était sur chaise roulante, sa mère lui a tellement crié dessus que le papa de l'enfant handicapé a failli verser des larmes comme quoi, en Europe quand tu as ton mal, tu le gères tout ou toute seule...
