Tambacounda : Un camion prend feu après un choc, trois personnes calcinées
Horrible. There is no other word to describe the tragedy that occurred late Sunday evening, May 24, 2026, on the outskirts of Diénoudiala, a village located on National Route 7 (RN 7), in the commune of Dialacoto (Tambacounda department). A heavy vehicle carrying a container was struck head-on by a motorcycle, carrying three people, which was attempting to overtake another vehicle.
Due to the extreme force of the impact, the motorcycle became trapped under the truck, which immediately burst into flames. The three occupants of the moped died instantly, completely burned beyond recognition by the fire.
Alerted by the accident, firefighters and gendarmes immediately went to the scene to carry out the usual procedures. The bodies were taken to the morgue at the Tambacounda Regional Hospital.
This tragedy, which has plunged the entire region into consternation and profound sadness, is now on everyone's lips. Faced with this alarming increase in traffic accidents in this part of the country, the local population is demanding only one thing: the urgent installation of speed bumps to ensure the safety of the thousands of people who live in this area.
What is the true cause of this tragedy? Initial hypotheses point to speeding, but also to reckless driving, particularly by truck drivers and some motorcyclists. An investigation was immediately launched by the gendarmerie to determine the exact circumstances of the accident, and the truck driver was arrested.
