Trafic de drogue et agressions à Ouest-Foire : 17 malfaiteurs arrêtés en flagrant délit par la BRS de Dakar
The Dakar Regional Narcotics Brigade (BRS), under the OCRTIS, dismantled a drug trafficking network in the Handar II district of Ouest-Foire on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m.
This operation follows a series of complaints from residents of the neighborhood who had long been unhappy about living alongside drug dealers in the heart of their community. A letter addressed to the Minister of the Interior and Public Security, dated January 17, 2025, denounced the prevailing insecurity in the Handar II neighborhood. The complainant drew attention to the alarming security situation on the road known as "Tally Baboye," characterized by the presence of drug traffickers and armed assailants. The actions of these criminals had ultimately created a profound sense of insecurity throughout the area.
Thanks to the investigations carried out by the BRS investigators, the outlines of the network and the main players were gradually identified. These were young people from diverse backgrounds who had transformed the area into a veritable market for the distribution and consumption of drugs, particularly Indian hemp, hashish, and ecstasy.
Several surveillance and tailing operations were discreetly carried out in the area by the detectives before the raid.
The raid launched this Wednesday fundamentally disrupted the network with the simultaneous arrest of 17 members. Among the suspects arrested are EBD, 28, cart driver; OG, 33, cart driver; AD, 32, Jakarta driver; CML, 29, sheet metal worker; AS, 34, livestock farmer; BN, 25, garbage collector; CN, 29, tailor; SB, 36, fisherman; LT, 19, fisherman; DG, 30, cart driver; TMD, 41, cart driver; TS, 18, scrap metal dealer; MAD, 20, Thiak-Thiak driver; MS, 37, fisherman; AK, 24, driver; FG, 33, scrap metal dealer; and FF, 21, fisherman, according to Seneweb sources.
The search of the premises allowed investigators to seize a quantity of narcotics and equipment used for trafficking.
In total, the police seized 85 ecstasy pills, a ball of hashish, six bottles of cellulose products, a TVS brand motorcycle, an electronic scale, drug packaging equipment, the sum of 210,000 CFA francs as well as 11 mobile phones which were used to coordinate their illicit activities.
The 17 suspects were taken into custody after being informed of their right to be assisted by a lawyer of their choice. The drugs and all seized items have been provisionally impounded at the BRS (Brigade de Recherche et d'Intervention Spécialisée) for sealing as part of the ongoing legal proceedings.
