Sued for defamation by security guard Mansour Diouf, 83-year-old Claudine Faulet, a retired woman living alone with her dog, was ultimately acquitted by the court. Diouf accused the elderly woman of having stated that he had stolen money from her safe.

In court, he admitted to withdrawing money from Ms. Faulet's Orange Money account to place bets on 1Xbet. To top it all off, he's now demanding compensation for damage to her reputation.

Although he had previously been given a three-month suspended sentence for unauthorized access to the same account, the prosecutor reminded him: "You are not as innocent as you think. The facts you dispute are proven."

When questioned by Ms. Faulet's lawyer, Rama Ba, Mansour Diouf admitted to continuing to visit the elderly woman with her permission. The lawyer emphasized that her client had lost a wallet, an iPhone 16, and cash. When asked about a previous theft, Diouf admitted to stealing 600,000 CFA francs from her Orange Money account before reimbursing it. "My intention wasn't to steal from her, but to gamble on 1Xbet, and I lost," he confessed. He also confirmed spending some nights at her home.

Another episode is recalled to the audience: after Ms. Faulet gave him 50 euros to pay for his room, Diouf allegedly went back up to his room to steal the remaining 900 euros.

In light of this evidence, Ms. Ba believes her client has no reason to return to the elderly woman's home. "Shame should prevent him from going back to the house," the lawyer lamented.

The court ruled that there was neither defamation nor fabrication; the facts alleged against Mansour Diouf were acknowledged or established. Ms. Faulet was therefore acquitted, and the plaintiff's complaint and claim for damages were dismissed.
