CAN 2025 : Marc Brys attaque frontalement Samuel Eto’o après son limogeage
Twenty days before the start of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot) surprised everyone by dismissing Marc Brys. This decision came just after the re-election of Samuel Eto'o, whom the Belgian coach openly blames.
When questioned by the Belgian press, Brys did not mince his words. He first mocked Eto'o's "uncontested re-election," before describing his dismissal as an "illegal and ridiculous stunt."
The Belgian then accused the president of Fecafoot of having eliminated positions attached to the Ministry of Sports and replaced them with cronies, asserting that "firing everyone just before a tournament is completely illegal." According to him, Eto'o had appointed "unprepared people, thrown to the wolves."
In a second media appearance, Brys went even further: "Samuel Eto'o's objective has always been to get rid of me. From the very first minute, he insulted me." Tired of the "negative atmosphere," his departure now seems a foregone conclusion.
Ultimately, it is David Pagou, already appointed by Eto'o to the coaching staff, who is expected to lead the Indomitable Lions in Morocco. It's a risky gamble for the former FC Barcelona striker who, despite his re-election as head of the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT), cannot afford another failure after failing to qualify for the World Cup.

Il n'y a pas plus pénible sur terre que de devoir travailler avec un inculte ignorant qui se prend pour un demi dieu. Tout le monde souffre y compris lui et il pense tout le temps qu'il est dans le vrai et sur la bonne voie alors que vous êtes tous égarés par sa faute. J'espère seulement qu'il ne sera pas trop tard avant que les camerounais ne se rendent compte que pour diriger leur FECAFOOT il n'y a pas plus incompétent que ce Samuel Eto'o.
