The 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) will take place in Tanzania, Uganda, and Kenya. On Tuesday, April 7, the Ugandan organizing committee unveiled the competition schedule.
The first thing to remember is that the tournament will not start in January. It will begin in June.
"The tournament will take place over a month, from June 19 to July 18, 2027."
"Jointly organizing a continental sporting event of the scale of the Africa Cup of Nations requires rigorous and multi-sectoral planning. The following general assumptions have guided our planning and budgeting process: the tournament will take place over one month, from June 19 to July 18, 2027," states the press release from the Ugandan local organizing committee.
It must be said that the countries of Eastern Africa are not used to hosting African competitions like the Africa Cup of Nations. It's a real challenge for these three nations, who have never won an African Cup of Nations title.
