Coupe du monde 2026 : l’Écosse enregistre un forfait de taille
A major blow for Scotland just days before the start of the 2026 World Cup. Midfielder Billy Gilmour will not participate in the world tournament after injuring his knee during Scotland's 4-1 victory over Curaçao in a friendly match on Saturday.
The Scottish Rugby Union officially announced his withdrawal via a statement: "We regret to inform you that the knee injury sustained by Billy Gilmour during the victory against Curaçao will prevent him from participating in the World Cup. We are all with you, Billy."
At 24, the Scottish international, with 45 caps and two goals for his country, is a key player in Steve Clarke's system. His absence therefore represents a major loss for the Tartan Army.
As a reminder, Scotland will play in Group C of the 2026 World Cup alongside Brazil, Haiti and Morocco.
