Cristiano Ronaldo ne veut pas arrêter le foot, malgré les commentaires de sa famille
The renowned Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo received the Globo Prestigio Award yesterday, Tuesday, at a star-studded gala organized by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF). In his speech at the event, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner expressed his love for Portugal and the Selecçao.
"If I could, I would only play for the national team, I wouldn't play for any other club, because it is the highest point and the peak of a footballer," he said, before sharing his initial apprehensions about the award received.
“I was a little nervous and thought, 'This is impossible.'
“I must admit that this afternoon I was sitting at the table studying what I was going to say in this speech. I asked myself, ‘What is a prestigious award? Is this an end-of-career award?’ I was a little nervous and thought, ‘That’s impossible.’ So I did some research on Perplexity and received a little help. On a more serious note, this trophy is a great source of pride for me. I don’t see it as the end of a career, but as a continuation of everything I have achieved throughout my career,” said the Al Nassr star.
So the man has no plans to quit football. At least, not anytime soon.
“People, especially my family, say to me, ‘It’s time you stopped…’”
And yet, his family would love to see him hang up his boots. “People, especially my family, say to me, ‘It’s time you stopped. You’ve done everything. Why do you want to score 1,000 goals?’ But I don’t believe it. I think I’m still contributing good things, I’m helping my club and the national team, so why not continue? I’m sure that once I’m done, I’ll have a sense of accomplishment, because I’ve given everything,” said the winner of the last Nations League.
However, he recognizes that he does not have many years left at the highest level.
