Mondial 2026 : «Le Sénégal a toutes les chances de...»
Alioune Touré, former French international turned coach and holder of the UEFA A license, spoke in an interview with Record about the 2026 World Cup and Senegal's chances.
The former Manchester City striker believes the clash against France, two-time world champions, will be intense and decided by the smallest of margins. He sees it as a historic rematch of the 2002 World Cup, promising a spectacular and emotionally charged affair. He also warns against Norway, an athletic team led by Erling Haaland, reminding everyone that at this level of competition, "there are no more small nations." In his view, however, Senegal and France are the favorites in this group.
Regarding the two-time African champions, the interviewee for the sports daily expressed great confidence. He considers the current team to be the best in Africa and capable of making history in 2026. According to him, Pape Thiaw and his men have all the necessary attributes to surpass their 2002 triumph and aim beyond the quarter-finals.
