Sénégal-Mauritanie : la FSF mise sur Léopold Senghor pour ...
Following their 3-2 victory over DR Congo, Senegal is preparing for their final two qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup this October: against South Sudan in Juba and Mauritania at home. For the clash between neighboring countries, the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) and the Ministry of Sports are considering relocating the match to the Stade Léopold Senghor, reports Le Quotidien.
The same source claims that this decision follows numerous complaints from supporters regarding ticketing problems during the match against Sudan, played at the Abdoulaye Wade Stadium in Diamniadio. FSF President Abdoulaye Fall had apologized and promised to make changes.
While the already renovated and more accessible Stade Léopold Senghor received provisional approval from CAF-FIFA last July, it still needs final approval to host the match. Paving work, the installation of new benches, and the raising of the players' tunnel are still required, warns the Avenir Communication Group daily. The newspaper points out that it was for the same reasons that the last match (at home) was moved to the Stade Abdoulaye Wade.
