Syndicat autonome de l’enseignement supérieur : David Célestin Faye réélu pour un second mandat
The outgoing Secretary General of the Autonomous Union of Higher Education (SAES), David Célestin Faye, was unanimously reappointed for a second and final three-year term, following the congress held from Friday to Sunday.
First elected in August 2022, Mr. Faye marked his first term with several notable advances, including the adoption of the decree granting special allowances to the families of deceased teachers and researchers - a long-demanded text which had been at the heart of many strike calls.
For the next three years, he has set two priorities: the massive and permanent recruitment of teachers and the completion of ongoing projects in the country's public universities.
This re-election comes as the SAES celebrates its 40th anniversary. Founded in 1985, the union now represents more than 76% of teachers and research professors at Senegalese universities, making it one of the most influential professional organizations in the higher education sector.
