Assemblée nationale : Adoption du Code général des impôts par les députés
The deputies adopted Bill No. 17/2025 amending Law No. 2012-31 of 31 December 2012 on the General Tax Code. Out of 126 voters, there were 133 votes "for" and 7 votes "against".
According to the Minister of Finance and Budget during the plenary debates, this reform is an opportunity to continue using the tax vector as an instrument of public regulation with a view to acting on certain risky behaviors and consumption such as gambling, alcohol and tobacco.
Previously, he recalled that as part of the implementation of the Senegal 2050 National Transformation Agenda, the government adopted the Economic and Social Recovery Plan (PRES) which is part of the "vision of economic reconstruction based on national sovereignty, social justice and transparency in the management of public resources."
Thus, the financing of the PRES is mainly based on the optimization of the mobilization of endogenous resources, which should be sought by exploring, among other things, new tax niches with large contribution capacities to the economic and social development effort.
