The IMF mission, led by Edward Gemayel (August 19-26, 2025), concluded its visit by praising Senegal's efforts toward transparency following the Court of Auditors' report. The Forvis Mazars audit revealed a dramatic revision in debt, rising from 74.4% to 111.0% of GDP at the end of 2023, and then to 118.8% at the end of 2024, due to undisclosed liabilities.
Despite 12.1% growth driven by hydrocarbons, corrective measures, including a centralized debt database, are under discussion to present the case to the IMF's executive board.
